Celebrate World Water Day with a gift to Musée de l'Eau!
Keepers of the Waters stands firmly in support of this incredible project in Burkina Faso.
If you’re unable to donate through their site, all donations made to Keepers of the Waters from now until March 22 will go directly to Musée de l’Eau.
Director Samoura Alassane has this to say about World Water Day:
Every year on March 22, our museum joins the United Nations in celebrating World Water Day. Our celebration includes various student awareness activities, such as promoting proper hand washing and the maintenance of latrines. The festivities commence with a welcome from the village authorities, including the customary chief, and the Minister of Culture, our esteemed godfather, who generously dedicates at least 3 hours of his time to be with us. Visitors can also enjoy a guided tour of the museum, followed by a demonstration of water research techniques.
In addition, we organize a walk procession, which comprises about 500 participants, covering a distance of 5 km. This distance represents the average distance a rural woman in our country walks daily to fetch water. The procession includes songs, dances, and messages directed towards politicians. In the afternoon, we host a concert and fair on the museum grounds to wrap up the day's events.
Projects at Musée de l’Eau need YOUR HELP
The Water Museum plans to carry out these essential actions:
Secure funding for a collection of more than 500,000 museum pieces related to water, including at least a sample of all the countries of the world
Securing by fencing the land space of the Museum in the prospect of carrying out its development plan by the construction of one hundred (100) showcases or pavilions;
Secure funding to build the largest Water Documentation Center in the world
Make the Water Museum into not just an ecological museum, but also an institution for research into anthropology and water.
Establish the Association of African Water Seekers, a trained, professional team equipped with the knowledge and equipment they need to deepen our understanding of water.
