June 30, 2003 Water and Art Exploratorium at elementary school
May 2003 Funded by a Neighborhood Arts Program grant from the Reginal Arts and Culture Council, Urban Water Works in Portland, Oregon organized a Water and Art Exploratorium at Bridger Elementary School. Artists were Sarah Ferguson and Kathy Karbo, assisted by Urban Water Works arts liaison Anne Mavor. The purpose was to introduce the idea of water as an artistic medium in preparation for the design of an educational and artistic schooyard rainwater catchement system. The "water garden" will replace asphalt and allow the rainwater to enter and replenish groundwater instead of overwhelming the combined sewer system. See project listing for more info and contact person.
